Bio
Jay Gormley is the Chief Investment Officer and COO, Advisory of Zimmet Healthcare Services Group. He heads the transaction advisory division and manages the firm’s various equity positions. Jay provides data driven advisory services to a number of different client types including providers, private equity firms, banks, technology startups, trade associations and non-profit organizations.
Prior to joining the firm, Jay spent 15 years as the head of strategy and planning at MJHS, a premier non-profit health system integrating health plans with the full continuum of post-acute services (nursing homes, medical practice, homecare, housing, care management & hospice) with over $1.6B in annual revenues. A member of the executive council (the senior team responsible for all operations of the system), he had responsibility for developing and executing medium and long-term strategy. Jay has also worked as a reimbursement consultant, transaction consultant, compliance consultant, a business associate on a hospital cardiac unit and as the executive of a health care technology startup.
Throughout his career Jay has overseen over $1B in health care transactions, construction projects, refinancing and has secured over $100M in government grant funding. He’s overseen investment in new technologies, resulting in co-ventures, monetization of intellectual property, & tech enabled healthcare spin outs. A frequent speaker at national and international conferences, Jay is a national expert in Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plans, value-based purchasing, innovative payment strategies, health system planning, healthcare facility establishment/construction, LTC financing, and at-risk home and community-based services. He has served on a number of industry related boards and advisory groups including the board of directors for five different Medicaid Accountable Care Organizations (responsible for over 1.5M at-risk lives and value-based revenue of over $5B), New York State sponsored committees on Medicaid Reimbursement & Bed Need methodologies and on the board of governors for the Israeli Center for Assistive Technology. He has also performed clinical research on the formation of Pacinian corpuscles, type III collagen in Ilizarov distraction sites and the role of focused attention on visual stimulus perception.
Jay has a B.A. in Neuroscience from Hamilton College and a Masters in Health Services Administration from the Sage Colleges.
